I just recently repainted our daughter's room...
I wanted something more colorful and bright.
I also wanted to use my vintage chenille bedspread, and antique quilt.
The paint color is Celestial Blue by Valspar...it's a nice bluish purple.
Love it!
Great color to grow with her.

I'm not finished with decorating, but it's heading in the right direction.
Our baby girl will be 3 in June...

Stay tuned for more on her room.

One closet at a time.

I have several closets, rooms, shelves that need to be organized.
Getting rid of clutter just feels great doesn't it?

I'm starting one closet at a time, and just taking it slow.
All to often we have huge dreams of doing things overnight.
I'm learning that with 5 children nothing happens overnight, and something always will come up. ;)

This is the closet in my bathroom.  It doesn't have any doors, and I was tired of seeing a mess.
I was ready to make it look pretty, and organized.
Honestly, I just put everything where it "really" belonged. ;)
I have a huge linen closet upstairs, I had just gotten lazy and not wanted to carry everything up there.

It feels so much better to go in now, and see such a nice neat closet.
I had everything I used already.  The very top shelf are my paper towels.

How are your organization projects going?

A tad darker.

Last winter we added the faux board and batten...
Which I LOVE, and because I LOVE it, I wanted it to really look sharp!
This meant going darker in the living room.  I also wanted a hint more gray, while staying blue, but still neutral.
After looking at...ummm...about 7 different colors...I finally narrowed it down to 3.
The winner was...WINTER FLANNEL by Valspar.

It's simply FABULOUS!

Love how it makes all the white and stairs just POP! :)

You can see my dresser redo here...

After putting away all the decorations...I still left out my little splurge this year.
The middle pillow is Pottery Barn, and I purchased it off ebay.
It's just PERFECT!

The door above the stairs just really catches you eye now...Love all my babies!  :)

I'm so pleased with the new paint color.
It turned out just right!

Paint it black.

               BEFORE                                         &                                 AFTER
I've had this dresser for almost 2 years now...  You can read about it's original drab to fab here...DRESSER.

We just recently painted the living room.
Which I'll post about later. :)  And I was ready to redo the decor on the dresser.  I found wonderful inspiration of course from Pinterest.
The burlap wreath I bought off ebay, and have LOVED ever since.  I just didn't know how I was going to use it.  Then I saw some wonderful ideas of hanging it with a mirror.  Well I didn't have a mirror... :(  but now worries, that's what the community swap is for on FB in my local area.  I put out an ISO on the swap group, and within an hour someone posted this lovely black mirror.
I paid $20 for it, and it was perfect for what I had in mind.
Still not "loving" the arrangement, especially with the new paint color.  I decided to paint the frame of the mirror silver, and the dresser a black gloss.

 It turned out great!
I'm sure I'll be changing some things up here and there on it, but for now it'll do. ;)
I bought the lamp shades at Walmart...I'm enjoying them.
 Everything else I already had.
The white pitcher is from Target, and it's probably one of favorite things I have.
The chalkboard silver tray I made almost 4 years ago, and it's one of those I put away, and then bring back out.

The burlap wreath will be fun to decorate according to the seasons.  :)

Have a wonderful Sunday everyone!

Porch Inspiration

I'm so so excited to be in the process of finally planning a front porch for our home.
We've built our home ourselves and for the last two years have focused on finishing things up on the inside.
Now it's time to think about the front of the house.

AND...I'm just giddy!! :)

I know I want a BIG front porch, with square pillars and just lots of room.
We enjoy spending so much time outside, and can't wait to have an actual porch to sit and enjoy the day on.

I've been naturally going through Pinterest to get inspired ideas...
Here's a few pics I'm loving. :)
I like the exposed ceiling and lanterns hanging here.  Cute!
I want it all open...
Our porch will only be one step up, so no rail is needed.
Love, love, the open feeling.
We'll be painting our front door, and adding shutters too.  AWESOMENESS!  Hahaha

I'm also planning on putting shade curtains up on the porch.
Aren't these great?  ;)
I can't wait to share the building and decorating of it with y'all.
Stay tuned...
Hopefully we'll start sooner than later. haha!

Have a blessed Tuesday,

Beginning of column make-over

I'm really excited that my dear husband has finally started on making those big blue posts in our living room into beautiful columns...

He'll trim them both out, like the one below.  Then I will prim, and paint the whole thing white.

You can see my dear husband working on the other one.  :)
It still needs to have caulk, primer, and finally it's pretty white semi-gloss finish. ;)
Here is our little man, he's already 7 weeks...and makes it a little more difficult to get to much done. ;)

All worth it of course.  I just want to snuggle him, because I know they don't stay this little for to long.
I hope to share the finished columns with you sometime next week.

Have a very blessed weekend,

Faux board and batten.

For some time now I've wanted to add a board and batten look to my living room.
Patiently waited for my dear husband to start this project ALL summer and fall... :)
With winter here, his work slows down...AND that means time to work on our home.

Here is our living room before...and trust me...even here it has come along way. ;)
Not bad, just needed some baseboards, BUT I wanted a little more character...drama...wow factor. HA!

So we got started...after caulking, priming, and painting.  Oh, I am tired! ;)  Plus nursing a six week old precious baby, tending to an 18 month old, and making through another school week...

Here is my living room today!  YAY!
LOVE IT!

Seven hooks, for seven of us. :)

Above the front door we still need to add crown molding...
You see that big blue column in middle of the living room?  I have two of those, and they're getting a make over.  Can't wait to show you!  White column makeover. :)
We're really enjoying the new look.  Now time to finish up a few other things.
