Recent photos of us

Just a few updated pics of Thrifty Nest...

We have three boys playing football the fall,  should be exciting,  and look forward to watching them.

This year we have an 8th grader, 4th grader, 3rd grader, and preschooler... They are all growing to fast!  Our 14 year old son got his learner's permit.  The state we live in allows 14 with drivers Ed.

Be blessed,  and stay tunes for some exciting news.  Can ya guess what it may be?

Til next time,

PB inspired buffet.

We've recently built a farm house table and a bench.
I'm also in the process of redoing some Queen Ann chairs...post to come. :)

We had this piece of furniture in our tv room.  I used it as an entertainment center/toy storage.  I hadn't done anything with it.  It was a maple color with brass hardware.
I was about to just sell it, when I remembered seeing a cute black buffet of course in Pottery Barn.

Naturally I got out the black spray paint and started the drab to fab.

Please over look the quality of the pictures.  I can't find my camera, these are taken with my phone.

I had everything here already I used on the buffet.
I'm so pleased with how it turned out.
It also pulls in the bench we painted black at our large farm house.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great week.

Farmhouse hutch on the front porch.

We've been waiting to finish our front porch.  I've always loved the idea of having a big ole' front porch.  I'm from the south, ya know...
With being a family of seven, we wanted to build one that would fit us all, and would be fun for entertaining.

I just recently traded an old table for this hutch.
LOVE it!
It sits right where the farmhouse table will be, and acts as a serving station when needed.

The hutch was original a display for candles...which is why it has the hole.
I love it to store things in, and the cutting board above I can place on top if I need the surface space.

Everything on the hutch I've had around the house, or stored in the garage.

Here's the farmhouse table my husband built me...I'll post about it later.
He actually built me two...one for the porch and one for inside.
I'll post about the Queen Ann chairs I'm redoing later.
The tables are waiting to be vanished.

Have a blessed day,
Our Thrifty Nest of 7

I just recently repainted our daughter's room...
I wanted something more colorful and bright.
I also wanted to use my vintage chenille bedspread, and antique quilt.
The paint color is Celestial Blue by Valspar...it's a nice bluish purple.
Love it!
Great color to grow with her.

I'm not finished with decorating, but it's heading in the right direction.
Our baby girl will be 3 in June...

Stay tuned for more on her room.

Blessings,

A teen room...growing up fast.

Our oldest son will turn 14 in June...
WOW, where does the time go?
He's growing into such a wonderful young man with a heart for the Lord!

Our prayer is that the Lord keep and bless him.  For him to continue to grow in grace and stand firm in his faith in Jesus Christ, and to have a servants heart...

My two tough guys...
Won't be to much longer and he'll be taller than his dad... :(

He was ready for dear mom to start making his room a little more teenager...
Masculine...

I started by painting the walls a dark gray.
The paint color is Almost Charcoal by Valspar...Lowe's brand.
I'm so glad I went darker, it looks so grown up.
My husband plans on building a shelving unit over his bed.
It'll be stained really dark, almost black.
(temporary arrangement :) )

Our son has a queen bed, so it'll be wide and the two side shelves won't be real tall.  The ceiling start to slant along with this wall, but it's the only wall large enough to build it on.
We'll also have two shelves in the middle.
I plan on painting chalkboard paint under the second shelf above the bed.  :)
At our local antique shop I found a couple of old locker bins, and neat street signs to use.

( Inspiration picture for the shelving unit...)

We still need to put the baseboards on, and find some curtains.
More little things to finish up...
It's coming along, and he LOVES the new color. :)

Stay tuned to for the reveal...

Have a wonderful week.
