Homegrown Teacher's Gift

It was the first day of school for three of our children...

We're so blessed and thankful that we have the opportunity to send them to a small Christian school.

The grades are combined, and the teacher's are excellent.  The accountability they feel in helping us parents in guiding  our children's spiritual growth is such a blessing!
Both of my children's teacher's will be implementing many of the concepts in the book...Shepherding A Child's Heart, by Tedd Trip.

I'm so inspired by this, that I'll be reading the book as well.  I've heard such wonderful things about it.

For a first day Teacher's Gift this is what they received. :)

There is only two gifts, because two of my children are in the same class.

We grew everything here on our acreage.

Basil (still drying), half dozen eggs (from our chickens), fridge pickles, and lots of homegrown tomatoes... :)

On the bag I wrote Isaiah 54:13.

"And all thy children shall be taught of the Lord; and great shall be the peace of thy children."

Basil?

Basil anyone?  :)

My mother in-law brought me over this huge bowl of lovely fresh cut basil on Saturday.

So naturally I got busy bundling it up, and hanging it to dry.

My kitchen smelled so wonderful.

We had so much I had to hang some in the sitting area next to the kitchen. :)

Once this all dries I'll put it in a food processor to use for cooking through out the winter.

What a wonderful blessing...homegrown organic basil.  ;)

Blessing #5 is??

Our 20 week ultrasound was yesterday...

We're so thankful for another healthy baby BOY!

Everything looked wonderful, and we haven't had a boy born in our family in 7 yrs.  :)

The Lord has truly blessed our family! 

We are humbled at His continued provisions, and mercy toward us!

Can't wait to introduce to our 4th son, and 5th child come December.

Our Entry

It's a party... a linky party to show off our entryways.

Our home, obviously has a front door...

but not so much a foyer, or definite entryway.  When you open our front door you pretty much step right into our living room.

If you look up this is the view you see...

And look to the left this is your view...

See what I mean by open.  This is your view to the front door from our kitchen.
Please keep in mind that my husband and I have built our home ourselves.  We still have much to finish...like baseboards, board and batten, trim work, crown molding...and the list goes on, and on!!  haha!
Also, we will one day replace the front door with a prettier one. ;)

My first slipcover

I made my first slipcover this weekend. :)

Can't say it's the best, but I'm happy with it.

I found the chair on freecycle, so it was...you guessed it...FREE!

I still want to repaint it a bright white.

I however won't be doing any spray painting until after baby #5 arrives. ;)

I bought these vintage sacks at a local antique store.  They were $5.00 a piece, which I thought was very reasonable.  The one I didn't use I plan on making a table runner out of.

 I started out by marking the top of the seat, and then cutting.  This is what I used to attached the skirted sides to.

I originally had wanted the sides to be gathered and ruffled, but because of my being a first timer...haha!  I didn't measure right for this.  I'm still pleased with it!

I love the top...our last name starts with an A. :)

 Once I put some fresh paint on the chair...I'll love it!

The slipcover was fun to do, and I look forward to making the table runner out of the other vintage sack.

The whole project cost me the $5.00 for the vintage sack... :)  Love deals like that!

This lovely chair was FREE!!

I know, who doesn't love FREE!  :)

I plan on repainting it, and making a skirted slipcover for the bottom.
