Pantry reveal

When we first built and moved in we had combined our mudroom and pantry area.  The front part was the mudroom, and on the other side of the half wall was the pantry.  Well for a growing family and a household who believes in stocking up for a rainy day...this space became small very fast. 

As did the mudroom part...the winters in the Midwest are filled with snow, ice, and freezing temp. ;(

Which means snow pants, heavy coats, and snow boots...the little area we had planned out just wasn't working.  So we decided to build a new pantry, and leave this whole room here for a  mudroom.

Glorious...a momma's dream...right? ;)

My husband built a new pantry by basically dividing up another room, and knocking out a door in this wall.

Yep, it was that easy...haha!

After finally finishing the drywall and priming, we began the move into the new pantry.

It took a full day, and boy was it exhausting.

I did preserve all this food... :)

We have tomatoes, green beans, chicken, beef, and broth all canned...

The other side of the pantry holds more of the things that we had stored under our stairs.  Which I'm so glad we got cleared out.  Things such as my wheat mill, bread maker, cannier, canning jars, etc...

The space under the stairs this year will be to store wood for our woodburners.  Which I'm happy about.  Wood can be very messy bringing it in, and stacking it to use.  So under our stairs is the prefect place.

We often get..."why do you have so much stored?"
Well, my husband is in the home improvement business, and with this economy, and him not working obviously outside in the winter...We prepare for it, and prepare for anything. :)
We believe that we're to be good stewards with what God provides, and teaching our children to plan ahead.
